Artist's self portrait

Hello there, thank you for visiting my site.  I'm Sara, a wife, mother, and artist.

I have a degree in studio arts.  I went to college right after high school.  Unfortunately, it came down to a choice of either starving to death or quitting and finishing a degree later.  Initially I was not an art major, that was not even possible at the college I was going to.  I was the very first digital artist at the school, using my Mac Classic with no hard drive, drawing in black and white pixel by pixel.  When my kids (two boys) were old enough to be in school as well, I went back.  The college was now large enough to be a University, and they had an art degree.

I have always loved animals.  In fact the first thing I remember wanting to be when I grew up was a wildlife photographer.  Eventually the fact that I had a hand-me-down camera with a very basic lens, and our idea of exotic travel was going camping somewhere new made me decide that wasn't a realistic career choice.  This project is almost a stay at home way of me getting back to my childhood dream.

I became a photographer at a pretty young age because I have always hated having my picture taken.  I discovered that if you were willing to take pictures, and refused to learn how to do a self timer on your camera, it kept you out of pictures most of the time.  There are not many pictures of me, but here are a couple.  When you are in school for art, invariably you will have to do at least one self portrait.  If you are like me, you find a way around it while still following the rules.  Oh, and unlike the picture of me as a baby might lead you to believe, I've always been a happy person.
